Inspired by the rivers that unites us

Zona is the first hard seltzer brand of Angola. The brand's journey is deeply rooted in the spirit of beginnings, drawing inspiration from the life-giving springs of Huambo that gracefully feed the Okavango River, nurturing a thriving and diverse ecosystem.

Process

Flowing with the Spirit of Angola

As the first hard seltzer produced in Angola, Zona required a complete 0-to-1 brand identity and packaging system to introduce an entirely new beverage category to the region. Studio Matte built a modern visual environment inspired by the life-giving springs of Huambo and the natural flow of the Okavango River.

Brand Identity & Logotype

  • Local Narrative: Built around the concept of "flow," connecting the product's refreshing nature to Angolan geography.

  • Custom Typography: Features a friendly, minimal serif wordmark with a subtle "splash" symbol integrated into the letter "a."

  • Motion Design: Animated logomotion brings the splash symbol to life across digital platforms and campaign assets.

Packaging & Visual System

  • The Fruit Binom Color System: Each flavor palette (Yuzu & Lime, Maracuja, and Manga) is derived from the natural contrast between the fruit’s outer skin and inner pulp.

  • Central Iconography: Monochromatic, geometric icons anchor the front of the packaging to draw the eye and establish clear flavor differentiation.

Everyday Touchpoints & Fleet Scale

  • Packaging to City: The identity translates from 300ml cans to high-contrast urban billboards, fleet transport branding across Angolan roads, and lifestyle merchandise.
