Demystifying Love Through Science
Applied Love Labs is a 501c3 nonprofit established in 2019. The team does research to find out the significant gap between what is experienced as Unconditional Love and what is scientifically understood about it. They look to bridge that chasm through empirical science and apply unconditional love into the lives of those looking for meaning and flourishing through science-backed projects.

Process
Shifting the Focus
The core design strategy was centered on shifting the storytelling from product-focus to people-focus. By telling their stories and showing their faces, we made the brand feel more real and connected. This brand is about people, and the visual system intentionally brings them—and their raw, intimate stories—directly into the picture through unfiltered, honest individual portraits.
Visual Identity System
- The Logo: A clear, confident, and contemporary wordmark that uses a playful mix of uppercase and lowercase letters to evoke curiosity, clarity, and method.
- The Symbol: A standalone conceptual tool that seamlessly merges the heart symbol with the form of a laboratory tube, creating a mark that feels both scientific and human.
- The Palette: A system that balances scientific rigor with emotional presence, pairing an anchor purple with an almost-black purple, soft green, warm yellow, and an intense accent red.
- Typography: Bold, engineered headlines contrasted with warm, literary subtitles and highly legible, calm body type.
